From Raw Recording to a Show That Sounds Like It Means Business
Editing is where a good recording becomes a great episode. CWA Europe’s post-production workflow is built around three priorities: clarity, consistency, and character. We remove everything that disrupts the listener — false starts, filler words, extended silences, mic bumps, breath noise — without stripping the humanity from the conversation. The result should sound natural and deliberate at the same time, not like a broadcast robot or a hastily uploaded voice memo.
Once the edit is structurally clean, we turn to the sound design layer. This includes the selection and licensing of music that fits your brand — intro, outro, and any transition stings — as well as the integration of any interstitial segments, sponsor reads, or chapter markers you need. We then move into mixing: balancing levels across hosts and guests, applying EQ to address room characteristics or microphone variances, and ensuring the full episode sounds coherent regardless of whether it’s heard on studio headphones or a car Bluetooth speaker.
Mastering is the final step, and it is the one most often skipped by in-house production teams. We normalise loudness to the –16 LUFS integrated standard recommended for podcast platforms, apply gentle limiting to control transient peaks, and export final files in both high-quality stereo and any additional formats your distribution setup requires. Every episode goes through a quality-control pass before delivery, with a checklist covering audio integrity, metadata tagging, and chapter timestamps. Clients receive final files along with a brief production summary noting any technical decisions made during post-production.
